Capital One is seeking an Assistant General Counsel, Enterprise Innovation Payments Product Counsel to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing strategic and analytical support for Capital One's newest and most innovative digital initiatives. You will work closely with the Emerging Payments & API Platform teams to understand the technology and services they deliver, and apply complex financial regulations to manage legal risk. Your role will also involve supporting strategic transactions with fintechs, e-commerce players, and customer-facing technology companies.

You should also have a track record of thriving in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and dynamic environment, as well as the ability to manage multiple transactions and handle novel issues.

As part of the legal team supporting innovation across Capital One, your responsibilities will include:

- Providing strategic advice by investigating and understanding the business objectives and applying the applicable laws to drive forward business initiatives
- Translating the law for the business and vice versa by understanding both legal requirements and business intent
- Autonomously managing the contracting pipeline by structuring, drafting, and negotiating contracts for products and features
- Partnering with colleagues to foster innovation and manage legal risk

Some examples of tasks you will be responsible for include reviewing product feature changes for regulatory compliance, performing legal research on the application of laws to new technology, and developing legal theories to influence business strategy.

To be eligible for this role, you must have a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and be an active member in good standing of at least one state bar. Preferred qualifications include experience with ecommerce, mobile apps, payments, or software products and/or agreements, as well as knowledge of consumer finance laws and regulations.
