Job Overview:

The Post-Conviction Relief Associate Attorney will handle post-conviction relief cases, including motions to vacate, expungements, and early termination of probation. This role involves advising clients on legal rights, attending motion hearings, managing court appearances, and providing legal analysis for clients.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on their legal rights and draw up legal documents about their case
  • Handle post-conviction relief cases, including motions to vacate, expungements, and early termination of probation
  • Experience with immigration law is highly desirable
  • Attend motion hearings on behalf of clients and advise them on strategies
  • Handle open criminal cases, including arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, and sentencing
  • Manage court appearances, draft motions, interview clients, and perform legal research
  • Analyze probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents
  • Manage workload of cases and provide legal analysis for clients to determine case benefits

Requirements:

  • Experience in Criminal Defense or Immigration Law
  • Experience handling criminal cases at the state and local level
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred
  • Interpersonal skills of the highest caliber
  • A team player open to helping, strategizing, and collaborating with fellow associates

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the State Bar of California

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Excellent oral advocacy skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently
  • Proficiency in legal document drafting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
