Job Overview:

The Trial Associate Attorney will manage personal injury cases from inception to resolution, including conducting legal research, preparing legal documents, and representing clients in negotiations and court proceedings.

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice on personal injury issues
  • Conduct legal research to support case strategies
  • Keep clients informed about case developments
  • Analyze the plaintiff’s and defendant’s positions
  • Explain personal injury law concepts and actions to clients
  • Develop personal injury cases by reviewing investigative findings and reports
  • Consult with experts and take depositions
  • Complete the discovery process and prepare legal briefs
  • Develop case strategies, arguments, and testimony
  • Maintain case progress by following productivity and quality standards
  • Resolve operational problems and identify work process improvements
  • Resolve cases through settlement, mediation, arbitration, or trial
  • Plan, organize, and present arguments in court
  • Engage expert witnesses and examine witnesses
  • Present evidence and closing arguments to the jury
  • Improve quality results by evaluating and redesigning processes

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Admission in good standing to the North Carolina State Bar
  • Admission in good standing to the South Carolina State Bar is preferred
  • 3 years of NC personal injury litigation experience required

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in legal documentation
  • Proficiency in case management software and MS Office Suite

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Admission in good standing to the North Carolina State Bar
  • Admission in good standing to the South Carolina State Bar preferred
