Job Overview: A law firm specializing in intellectual property seeks a skilled Life Sciences Patent Agent to handle various patent projects, including drafting, prosecution, post-grant proceedings, opinions, and due diligence. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in organic chemistry or related fields and be adept at navigating the intricacies of patent law.

Duties:

• Drafting patent applications in life sciences, particularly small molecule pharmaceuticals.
• Conducting prosecution of patent applications before the USPTO.
• Handling post-grant proceedings, including inter partes reviews and reexaminations.
• Providing patentability and freedom-to-operate opinions.
• Conducting due diligence reviews of intellectual property portfolios.

Requirements:

• 1-10 years of experience as a Patent Agent.
• A master’s degree in organic chemistry or a related field is preferred; candidates with a PhD are preferred.
• Alternatively, 2-3 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution on small molecule pharmaceuticals.
• Admission to practice before the USPTO.
