Job Overview: A law firm in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a talented Patent Agent to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patent prosecution, focusing on drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications. They will work closely with clients on cutting-edge technologies, guiding patent protection, and building IP portfolios.

Duties:

• Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications on behalf of clients
• Focus on patent filings, due diligence, landscape analysis, freedom-to-operate analysis, and validity assessment arising from collaboration with industry partners
• Support all aspects of Patent litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trials
• Draft responses to the rejection of a patent application for an invention from the United States Patent and Trademark Office and other worldwide Patent Offices
• Work with clients on innovative and cutting-edge technologies to procure patent protection and build IP portfolios
• Establish and maintain internal practices, procedures, and technology for coordinating and streamlining patent-related information, filings, and deadlines
• Interact professionally with both internal and external clients on all levels
• Work as part of a global professional team
• Concentrate on the management and pay close attention to the details of projects
• Communicate effectively with lawyers, firm management, staff, and clients one-on-one, both verbally and through written correspondence
• Manage multiple tasks and projects and meet deadlines
• Work well under pressure with flexibility and adaptability to changing work priorities
• Work flexible schedule to accommodate projects as needed
• Provide answers, pushback, or questions to authority for greater clarity or more information, if needed
• Think creatively, using good judgment and decision-making capabilities

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, physics, or related field
• 3 years of experience in patent prosecution
• Industry experience (or equivalent) in the fields of Software Development/Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and/or Machine Learning is strongly preferred
• Registered with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
