Job Overview:

  • Conduct prior art searches for patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Analyze patent and scientific documents to support patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation.
  • Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Must possess excellent technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Analyze patent and scientific papers to support patent prosecution and litigation efforts.
  • Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Collaborate with patent attorneys and clients to understand technical aspects of inventions.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and developments in material science and chemical engineering.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in material science, chemical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering, or a related field.
  • Substantive industry experience in chemical engineering or material science.
  • Broad scientific knowledge in material science and/or chemical engineering.
  • Excellent technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Registered US patent agent or eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam.

 

Certifications:

Registered US patent agent or eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam.

 

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive prior art searches.
  • Proficiency in drafting patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
