The candidate will play a crucial role in meeting with clients, drafting legal documents, and ensuring that estate plans align with clients' needs and legal requirements. The position requires effective communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing comprehensive estate planning services.

Duties:

  • Conduct first consultations and interim meetings with prospective clients.
  • Gather necessary information to make planning recommendations during client meetings.
  • Draft and review legal documents for estate planning, ensuring alignment with client needs.
  • Schedule document signing meetings within 4-6 weeks from the date of engagement.
  • Conduct document signing appointments, including notarization of all documents.
  • Explain the estate plan design to clients and address any questions or concerns.
  • Respond to client phone calls and emails promptly.
  • Keep detailed notes of all meetings and communications, maintaining them in client files.
  • Meet regularly with the Managing Member to discuss complex client matters and seek technical guidance.
  • Undertake other assigned projects, including business transactions or selective estate/business litigation.

Requirements:

  • Licensed attorney by the Louisiana State Bar Association.
  • Louisiana State Bar Association Certified Specialist in Estate Planning preferred, or willingness to obtain such certification.
  • Knowledge of income, gift, and estate tax laws.
  • Notary Public.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Estate Planning preferred.
  • Additional ongoing courses and continuing education programs in the area of Estate Planning.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Louisiana State Bar Association certification as a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning (preferred).

Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail in drafting legal documents and conducting client meetings.
  • Ability to explain complex legal concepts to clients in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Organizational skills to manage client files and documentation effectively.
