Overview

- Responsible for representing AmTrust North America and its carriers in all assigned cases related to workers' compensation in California
- Requires aggressive and efficient management of caseload, including traveling to different Boards in Southern California and AmTrust offices
- Ideal candidate should have skills to communicate with various parties and maintain understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values in the workers' compensation industry

Responsibilities

- Competently represent the Employer/Carrier in administrative hearings, conferences, trials, and appeals
- Prepare pleadings, motions, and briefs in support of defense strategies
- Provide timely communication and legal advice to Claims, Underwriting, and employers
- Assist in developing training materials for relevant parties
- Handle carve-out cases and have familiarity with Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
- Keep current with market trends and attend continuing legal education seminars
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

- Licensed by the California State Bar
- Strong technical knowledge of California Labor Code and Rules of Practice and Procedure
- Ability to handle a caseload of up to 95 cases and travel to various WCAB district offices in California and other AmTrust offices
- 3+ years of recent and relevant experience in Workers' Compensation
- Trial and/or arbitration experience
- Appellate experience
- Preferred: Specialization in California Workers' Compensation Law, experience in ADR, and strong working knowledge of TeamConnect and TimeMatters

Salary Information

- This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California
- Level II Staff Counsel salary range is $110K - $160K, may vary depending on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location
- Salary range may be modified in the future based on company's discretion
