**Contract Attorney**

The Alaska Public Defender Agency (Agency) is looking for experienced contract attorneys to provide legal representation to indigent individuals in criminal cases across the state. The Agency will cover case-related expenses and services and provide compensation for contractors on either a flat fee or hourly basis.

**Qualifications**

Applicants must possess the following qualifications to be considered for the role:

- Be admitted to the Alaska bar
- Have trial experience
- Possess outstanding writing and analytical skills
- Be able to work independently to research and compose legal briefs
- Possess strong oral advocacy skills
- Possess an active State of Alaska business license
- Maintain professional liability insurance

**Compensation**

Contractors will be compensated for their services on either a flat fee or hourly basis. Expenses and services related to the case will also be covered by the Agency.

**Responsibilities**

Contractors are expected to handle cases to completion at the trial court level.
