Job Title: State and Local Tax (SALT) Director Experience Level: 10+ years Salary Range: $150,000 - $260,000 Company: Citrin Cooperman Department: National Tax Practice Location: Multiple locations in the United States and internationally Overview: - Citrin Cooperman, one of the largest accounting and consulting firms in the United States, is seeking a State and Local Tax (SALT) Director to join their National Tax Practice. - With over 2,500 employees in 22 . and international offices, Citrin Cooperman offers a dynamic and fast-paced work environment with opportunities for professional growth. - The SALT Director will be responsible for performing tax research and analysis on a variety of SALT matters, including income and indirect tax nexus, apportionment and revenue sourcing, sales taxability, credits and incentives, SALT planning and implementation, and M&A due diligence. - This position offers the opportunity to work in a highly interactive team environment and requires strong research and communication skills, as well as a comprehensive understanding of multi-state tax concepts. - The ideal candidate will have a BS in Accounting, LLM or master’s in taxation, CPA and/or JD preferred, and 10+ years of tax experience, with at least 4 years exclusively in SALT. - Citrin Cooperman is committed to being the go-to regional and national professional services firm of choice for middle-market clients, providing core assurance, tax, and strategic business consulting services to enhance their business and personal aspirations. Responsibilities: - Conduct tax research and analysis on a variety of SALT matters, including income and indirect tax nexus, apportionment and revenue sourcing, sales taxability, credits and incentives, SALT planning and implementation, and M&A due diligence. - Work closely with clients and internal Citrin Cooperman personnel to provide expert guidance and support. - Collaborate with a dynamic and highly interactive team within Citrin Cooperman’s National SALT practice. - Effectively communicate complex tax concepts both verbally and in writing, both internally and externally. - Utilize strong analytical and research skills in a fast-paced firm or corporate environment. - Continuously seek out opportunities to learn and apply new concepts in real-time. Qualifications: - BS in Accounting, LLM or master’s in taxation. - CPA and/or JD preferred. - 10+ years of tax experience in a public accounting or law firm, with at least 4 years exclusively in SALT. - Comprehensive understanding of multi-state tax concepts. - Strong research and communication skills. - Highly organized and able to build strong team relationships.
