A law firm in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking an Energy Regulatory/Corporate Associate Attorney with 4-5 years of experience in energy transactional and regulatory litigation and compliance. The ideal candidate should possess experience in handling regulatory and compliance matters before the Texas Public Utility Commission and other state energy regulatory commissions. Additionally, expertise in matters related to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) or other ISO/RTOs or organized power markets, as well as experience in advocacy before state utility commissions and involvement in power transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and power sales, would be highly beneficial.

Duties:

  • Manage legal matters pertaining to energy regulatory compliance and litigation.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients before state energy regulatory commissions and the Texas Public Utility Commission.
  • Provide legal counsel and representation in matters involving the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and other ISO/RTOs or organized power markets.
  • Offer guidance on power transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and power sales.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on complex energy regulatory issues.
  • Prepare legal documents and actively engage in negotiations related to energy regulatory and corporate matters.

Requirements:

  • 4-5 years of experience in energy transactional and regulatory litigation and compliance.
  • Exceptional academic record in law.
  • Active AZ Bar license or a commitment to obtain one as soon as possible.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Skills:

  • Profound understanding of energy regulatory law and compliance.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in negotiation and legal drafting.
  • In-depth knowledge of power transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and power sales.
