The law firm is seeking a highly qualified Mid-level Patent Agent to join its team in Wilmington. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, significant law firm or industry experience, and exceptional writing and communication skills. The individual should hold a degree in electrical engineering or computer science, with a preference for experience in patent prosecution related to electrical engineering, software technologies, data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), machine learning/artificial intelligence, and hardware security. Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is mandatory.
Duties:
- Conducting thorough prior art searches and patentability analyses.
- Drafting and prosecuting patent applications related to electrical engineering, software technologies, data science/AI, networking technologies, machine learning/artificial intelligence, and hardware security.
- Collaborating with inventors, attorneys, and clients to gather necessary information for patent prosecution.
- Managing patent portfolios and providing strategic counseling on intellectual property matters.
- Conducting legal research to support patent prosecution and litigation efforts.
Requirements:
- Bachelor or advanced degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
- Admission to the USPTO is mandatory.
- 4+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
- Solid understanding of patent laws and regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Patent prosecution experience in electrical engineering or software-related technologies.
- Expertise in data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), machine learning/artificial intelligence, and hardware security.
