This role involves working with middle-market clients and providing state and local tax consulting services, including tax planning, due diligence, nexus and taxability studies, audit defense, and more. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow as a leader and contribute to the firm's mission of empowering others to embrace opportunity. Responsibilities: - Assist with management of clients and their needs - Conduct state and local tax consulting projects, such as tax planning and voluntary disclosures - Perform research and technical analysis of multistate tax issues - Identify opportunities for prospects and clients based on taxpayer data - Stay up-to-date on state and local tax law changes - Participate in business development activities - Develop internal relationships and contribute to external branding Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in accounting (emphasis preferred) - Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax or JD/LLM a plus - CPA or licensed attorney preferred; must meet educational requirements if not currently licensed - Minimum 1 year of related tax experience required; public accounting experience preferred - Previous experience with tax research and technical advice on state and local tax issues preferred - Experience in state and local government revenue department a plus - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Creative problem solving and research skills - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Ability to handle multiple priorities and projects - Proficient in Microsoft Office - Willingness to travel (approximately 20%) Moss Adams is an equal opportunity employer and provides reasonable accommodations for applicants and employees with disabilities.
