Assistant Attorney General - Oil, Gas, and Mining The State of Utah is looking for an experienced attorney to fill the role of Assistant Attorney General - Oil, Gas, and Mining. This position will involve advising the Division on a variety of legal matters related to the Division's mission, including its interactions with the Board of Oil, Gas, and Mining; pursuing enforcement actions against operators who violate oil, gas, and mining laws, and performing other legal tasks. The ideal candidate for this position should have excellent written and oral advocacy skills, the ability to communicate ideas and information clearly and concisely, and the capacity to work with others as part of a team and communicate effectively with clients. Preference will be given to applicants who have background and experience in natural resource law, particularly oil, gas, and mining law and issues, as well as litigation. Qualifications Applicants must possess the following qualifications to be considered for the role: * A * Active membership in the Utah State Bar in good standing * Must qualify for admission to the . Responsibilities The Assistant Attorney General - Oil, Gas, and Mining will be responsible for the following: * Assist the client agency in drafting and revising administrative rules. * Provide consultation, make recommendations, and give appropriate advice to client agencies. * Determine discovery needs, conduct depositions, complete written discovery; participate in strategy sessions to prepare case for trial, determine evidence to use and how to present. * Write/draft motions, court briefs, correspondence, reports, memoranda, etc. * Represent the State and client agencies in lawsuits and administrative proceedings. * Travel to various locations and stay overnight as required.
