Position Summary:
We are seeking a strategic and analytical Tax Senior with experience in Unclaimed Property Tax to join our Unclaimed Property Tax group at Deloitte. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on complex state unclaimed property tax issues and utilize innovative technologies to align tax solutions with business objectives.

The Team:
Deloitte's Multistate Tax Services (MTS) group is one of the largest State and Local Tax (SALT) practices in the United States with over 1,000 professionals nationwide. Our team includes former state tax auditors and administrators, industry personnel, tax practitioners, accounting specialists, and technology personnel with extensive multistate tax experience. We offer a range of services including state income and franchise tax, indirect tax, unclaimed property, business restructuring, credits and incentives, sales and use tax outsourcing, excise tax, property tax, state strategic tax review, and state tax controversy.

Work you'll do:
As a Tax Senior in the Unclaimed Property Tax group, you will provide state tax consulting and compliance services to a diverse client base in various industries. You will have the opportunity to work on large, complex tax projects, receive exceptional training and resources, and develop your leadership skills. Responsibilities include:

- Applying appropriate services for clients needing to complement their in-house unclaimed property team or outsource all unclaimed property responsibilities
- Gaining knowledge of assessment, audit, or voluntary disclosure agreement processes
- Developing written communications and facilitating discussions with clients, legal counsel, and state representatives
- Tracking and reviewing client requests and submissions, and assisting with record review
- Performing data analysis to identify potential unclaimed property risks
- Developing strategies to mitigate potential unclaimed property exposure
- Drafting final deliverables and reports for client and state submission
- Demonstrating critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Using a variety of tools and techniques to extract insights from industry trends
- Reviewing work for quality, accuracy, and relevance
- Seeking opportunities to gain exposure to diverse situations, environments, and perspectives
- Communicating effectively when influencing and connecting with others

Qualifications:
- Ability to work in a hybrid model, co-locating in person 2-3 days per week
- 3+ years' experience in state and local tax, with at least 1 year in Unclaimed Property tax
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- One of the following accreditations:
- Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office
- Licensed attorney
- Enrolled Agent
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
- Ability to travel up to 10% based on client needs and industries served

Preferred qualifications:
- Advanced degree, such as Masters of Tax, JD, or LLM
- Previous experience at a Big 4 or large CPA firm
- Supervisory experience
