A law firm in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Mid-level Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney to contribute to the development of litigation strategies and provide extensive legal advice to clients across various industries. The candidate will play a key role in reviewing documents, conducting legal research, participating in client meetings, and advising on complex litigation and regulatory matters. Telecommuting options are available up to 2 days per week.

Duties:

  • Develop litigation strategies for complex commercial litigation, business-tort litigation, internal corporate investigations, corporate governance matters, arbitration-related litigation, and arbitration-enforcement litigation.
  • Advise clients, including multinational companies, public and private companies, funds, firms, partnerships, and individuals, in all types of litigation across diverse industries.
  • Review and analyze various legal documents, including briefs, memoranda, summaries, correspondence, and examination outlines for complex matters.
  • Vet, pressure-test, and appropriately calibrate advice on a global basis before it reaches clients.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze laws, court decisions, and other relevant sources related to ongoing litigation.
  • Participate in and conduct client meetings and case strategy discussions with outside counsels.
  • Coordinate and implement clients' policies and practices across outside counsels.
  • Analyze evidence to develop strategy and tailored advice.
  • Utilize strong communication skills (written and verbal) to daily communicate with clients via telephone, email, and in-person.
  • Provide direct assistance to partners and senior lawyers on matters arising in the course of day-to-day provision of legal services.
  • Develop legal strategy and provide extensive advice on privacy, data protection, and security-related legal and compliance initiatives for clients.
  • Research, analyze, and present conclusions on laws, court decisions, and other relevant sources related to ongoing litigation.
  • Oversee on-the-ground counsel to implement strategy for matters ranging from data protection, defamation, IP infringement, consumer protection, contract disputes, and more.
  • Advise clients on risk assessments associated with newly developed products, policies, and business structures.
  • Advise clients on risk assessments and compliance with LatAm data protection and technology-related laws and regulations.
  • Research and present global legal analyses impacting social media companies, including intermediary liability, hate speech, data protection, and defamation issues.
  • Review and advise on various existing and proposed data protection and technology-related legislation and regulations across the world.

Requirements:

  • . or . equivalent in law.
  • 3 years of professional experience as an attorney, associate, law clerk, or related occupation at an international law firm advising on commercial litigation issues.
  • Admission to the California State Bar.
  • Special skills:
    • 3 years of professional experience advising on civil litigation matters and internal investigations within the technology industry.
    • 3 years of professional experience drafting and reviewing answers, motions, appeals, and expert examination preparation.
    • 3 years of professional experience supervising legal research.
    • 3 years of professional experience managing multiple litigation projects.
    • 3 years of professional experience managing multiple LatAm privacy and data protection litigation matters.
    • 3 years of professional experience advising on technology-related legal issues involving data protection, defamation, IP infringement, consumer protection, or contract terms with a focus on LatAm regulations.

Certifications:
