Job Overview: A law firm in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a Tax Associate Attorney to handle all aspects of client cases related to tax law. The ideal candidate will have a strong tax controversy background and excellent communication and organizational skills.

Job Details:

  • Handle all aspects of a client’s case
  • Provide input and feedback to maintain an excellent client experience
  • Communicate effectively with clients and other counsel
  • Work diligently under the supervision of senior attorneys
  • Interact attentively with representatives from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and State revenue agencies
  • Review, edit, and analyze client financial reports
  • Handle case evaluation, risk assessment, and counseling on various complicated tax problems
  • Accurately track time spent on each case (minimum billable hour requirement of 1650 hours annually)
  • Manage workflow, complete tasks daily, ensure deadlines are satisfied, and ensure work is performed accurately, thoroughly, and documented in the firm’s case management system
  • Manage the paralegals assigned to your cases and delegate tasks to support staff
  • Prepare correspondence and legal documents distributed to the IRS and state revenue agencies
  • Utilize Bloomberg and other applicable platforms to conduct legal research
  • Preferred tax controversy experience in a law firm, accounting firm, or corporation
  • Must provide a cover letter demonstrating legitimate interest in tax law
  • Active Bar license required
  • Proficiency in Adobe and MS Office, with expertise in Word and Excel
  • Competency in solving unique problems
  • Detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong technical abilities
  • Professional experience with legal time-reporting and billing practices
  • Ability to work effectively, efficiently, and collaboratively with other team members in a professional manner

Requirements:

  • Active Bar license
  • Preferred tax controversy experience

Education and Certifications:

  • JD from an accredited law school
