Job Overview:

The Associate Attorney will provide legal representation and counsel to clients primarily in family law matters. They will draft legal documents, represent clients in court, conduct legal research, provide advice, and negotiate settlements. Additionally, the associate will be able to explore and develop their practice area of interest within the firm while benefiting from networking events and mentorship.

Duties:

  • Drafting legal pleadings such as complaints, motions, or briefs
  • Representing clients in court proceedings
  • Conducting thorough research on relevant laws and precedents for case preparation
  • Providing legal advice and counsel to clients on family law issues, including divorce, child custody, support payments, alimony, and domestic violence
  • Interviewing clients to gather case information and relevant facts

  • Negotiating with opposing counsel or parties to reach settlements that meet client needs and legal requirements

Requirements:

  • 0-1 year of experience in practicing law
  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the North Carolina State Bar

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
