H1: Associate Counsel - Core and Custom Lending Team H2: Full-Time Position with Competitive Salary and Benefits About the Role: - The Wells Fargo Legal Department is seeking an attorney to join the Legal team supporting the Wealth & Investment Management (“WIM”) advisory business. - This Associate Counsel will provide legal support for portfolio management and trading function across several legal entities, multiple product lines and distribution channels. - The position will report to the Managing Counsel of the Core and Custom Lending Team, part of the Legal Department’s WIM Division. Responsibilities: - Provide routine legal guidance and conduct research on various legal matters under the direction of more senior counsel. - Develop subject matter knowledge and risk assessment skills, and build relationships with internal and external clients. - Monitor legal and regulatory changes, escalating issues to more senior members of the team as needed. - Collaborate within the department and across business and staff functions to address legal and risk issues. - Develop specialization within law while building broader and deeper expertise. - Review issues, policies, or procedures related to low-to-medium risk deliverables. - Receive direction from supervisor and exercise independent judgment while developing understanding of policies, procedures, specialization, and compliance requirements. Required Qualifications: - 6+ months of law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education. - Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States. Desired Qualifications: - Experience advising on legal issues relating to custom commercial and consumer securities based lending products, investor real estate loans, specialized finance credit, and related partner capital lending. - Ability to foster an environment of strong communication and cooperation across business, compliance, risk, and audit functions. - Strong risk management skills and ability to identify and escalate risk issues. - Ability to research law and regulations and develop advice on complex legal issues. - Strong attention to detail and accuracy. - Experience working in a fast-paced, complex environment. - Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. - Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple matters.
