A law firm is currently seeking a Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Patent Agent to join the dynamic team in Raleigh. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in patent preparation and prosecution, focusing on medical devices and mechanical engineering. This position requires a candidate with a high level of academic achievement, solid law firm or industry experience, and exceptional writing and communication skills. The individual should hold a degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering, and other engineering disciplines coupled with significant patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products will be considered. Admission to the USPTO is mandatory for this role.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct patent searches and analyze prior art to assess patentability.
  • Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Communicate with inventors, attorneys, and clients to gather necessary information for patent prosecution.
  • Collaborate with legal teams to develop and implement patent strategies.
  • Stay abreast of developments in patent law and relevant technologies.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.
  • 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.
  • Strong understanding of medical devices and mechanical engineering principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

 

Education:

Bachelor's or advanced degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

 

Skills:
