Job Title: Principal Corporate Counsel
Salary: USD $124,800 - $222,000 per year (may vary based on location)
Experience: 5+ years as a practicing attorney with experience in data rights, privacy, and governance related to AI training
Location: Redmond, Washington, United States (with option for up to 50% work from home)

Responsibilities:
- Partner with engineering to drive legal strategies for responsible data use in AI training at scale
- Advise and counsel clients on various topics including data usage, AI training, open source AI, and software licensing
- Act as a thought leader on data, open source AI, and standards, both internally and externally
- Represent Microsoft in relevant open ecosystem foundations, committees, and communities
- Collaborate with experts across the company on issues such as patents, copyright, and privacy
- Embody Microsoft's culture and values

Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate Degree or equivalent international degree
- Active license to practice law in relevant jurisdiction
- 5+ years experience as a practicing attorney with knowledge of data rights, privacy, and governance related to AI training
- Negotiation and diplomatic skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups and as part of a geographically distributed team
- Strong understanding of legal risks and ability to balance them against business interests
- Bias for action and driving client-focused results
