Job Overview:

The Associate Attorney will be responsible for conducting and advising internal investigations, litigation, legal research, drafting policies, conducting training, and counseling clients. Additionally, the role may involve serving as an external investigator or hearing officer in Title IX matters.

Duties:

  • Conducting and advising on internal investigations in employment-related matters.
  • Handling litigation cases in areas such as Title IX, faculty employment, student affairs, and athletics.
  • Conducting legal research to stay abreast of relevant laws, regulations, court decisions, and legal interpretations.
  • Drafting policies related to employment and students in higher educational institutions.
  • Providing training sessions to clients on legal matters.
  • Counseling clients on various legal issues.

Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of experience in employment law, including conducting or advising on investigations.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, court decisions, and legal interpretations related to employment and students in higher educational institutions.
  • Experience working with education clients on employment and other areas, with the ability to manage multiple client needs.
  • Background in employment law, encompassing both litigation and counseling (preferred).

Education and Certifications:

  • Licensed, or eligible to be immediately licensed, in North Carolina.
  • Exceptional analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and excellent academic credentials.
