Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive estate planning services to high net-worth clients, including drafting wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents.
  • Advise clients on gift and estate tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize wealth preservation.
  • Oversee the administration of trusts and estates, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with clients' financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to develop integrated wealth management solutions.
  • Conduct legal research and stay abreast of changes in estate planning laws and regulations.
  • Handle complex estate and trust litigation matters, if necessary.

Requirements:

  • Admission to practice law in Vermont is mandatory; eligibility for admission is acceptable.
  • Desirable: Admission to practice law in New Hampshire.
  • Proven experience in estate planning, gift and estate tax planning, and trust and estate administration.
  • Strong familiarity with business succession planning concepts.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Vermont; admission to the Vermont bar.
  • Desirable: Admission to the New Hampshire bar.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting complex estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
  • Thorough understanding of federal and state tax laws related to estate planning and wealth transfer.
