Position Summary:

- Seeking a strategic and creative Unclaimed Property Tax professional to work on complex state unclaimed property tax issues and align tax function with business objectives.
- Looking for sharp, analytical Tax Managers to join the Unclaimed Property Tax group and work with one of the largest Multistate Tax practices in the United States.

The Team:

- Deloitte's Multistate Tax Services (MTS) group is the largest State and Local Tax (SALT) practice in the United States, with over 1,000 professionals nationwide.
- Our Multistate Tax professionals have significant experience with the requirements and nuances of jurisdictions in all 50 states.
- Services include state income and franchise tax, indirect tax, business restructuring, credits and incentives, sales and use tax outsourcing, excise tax, property tax, state strategic tax review, and state tax controversy.

What You'll Do:

- Provide tax consulting and compliance services to a diverse client base in a variety of industry sectors.
- Work directly with the client, manage the tax engagement team, and have access to an elite group of specialists.
- Help assess state and local tax burden and recommend solutions to support overall business objectives.
- Assist multi-state companies with state unclaimed property matters, including audit defense, voluntary compliance, annual reporting, and consulting.
- Review unclaimed property compliance processes and make recommendations for improvement.
- Assist Deloitte audit teams with review and analysis of unclaimed property reserves.
- Research and draft technical memoranda regarding unclaimed property compliance rules.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop staff.

Qualifications:

- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week.
- 5+ years' progressive experience in state and local tax, with a focus on Unclaimed Property tax.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other related field.
- One of the following accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain:
- Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA exam.
- Licensed attorney.
- Enrolled Agent.
- Certifications: CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner).
- Ability to travel up to 10% on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM.
- Demonstrable tax knowledge across a wide range of state and local tax areas.
- Previous consulting experience from a large accounting or law firm.
- Adept communicator with advanced writing skills and comfortable creating and delivering presentations across all levels of an organization.
- Advanced knowledge of OneSource, GoSystems and/or similar tax software and a strong interest in learning new technology.

Salary Information:

- The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions.
- A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,900 to $203,060.
- You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.
