Job Overview:
A law firm in Phoenix, AZ, seeks a dedicated Immigration Attorney to manage a diverse caseload of removal defense, family-based, and humanitarian immigration cases. The ideal candidate will represent clients detained by ICE in immigration court proceedings, appeals, and affirmative applications before USCIS and the Department of State. The Immigration Attorney will also be responsible for legal research, writing motions and briefs, conducting investigations, and consulting potential clients.

Job Details:

  • Manage a caseload of removal defense cases, including preparation and litigation of applications for relief from removal, such as cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, asylum, withholding of removal, CAT, and other waivers.
  • Represent clients in immigration court proceedings, including appeals, and effectively advocate for their rights.
  • Prepare and argue motions for release from detention in bond proceedings.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and discovery to support clients' claims with compelling evidence.
  • Work closely with clients and their families to prepare affirmative applications for visas, citizenship, asylum, U visas, T visas, and VAWA petitions, as well as waivers of inadmissibility.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and experts locally and nationally to enhance legal strategies and benefit clients.
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, and filings for submission to immigration courts, the BIA, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
  • Analyze the immigration consequences of criminal convictions for clients.
  • Perform consultations for potential clients interested in the law firm's immigration services.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Arizona in good standing.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience practicing immigration law, preferably focusing on removal defense and family-based immigration.
  • Strong understanding of immigration law, regulations, and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to client representation.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar of Arizona in good standing.
