A law firm located in Sacramento, CA, is seeking a Public Agency Attorney specializing in Education Law, with a primary focus on representing public entities. The ideal candidate should have an active California Bar membership and a minimum of 2 years of experience in public entity representation, along with a deep understanding of California's legal landscape. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing legal guidance to public agencies, elected or nonprofit volunteer Boards, and local governments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide legal counsel and representation to public entities in matters related to Education Law, including special education, student rights, governance, and policy.
Collaborate with elected officials and nonprofit volunteer Boards to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Conduct legal research, analyze complex legal issues, and provide well-reasoned legal opinions to clients.
Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and policies, to protect the interests of public entities.
Represent clients in administrative hearings, negotiations, and court proceedings as necessary.
Offer guidance and counsel to clients on matters related to litigation risk assessment, dispute resolution, and conflict management.
Keep abreast of changes in relevant laws and regulations to provide clients with up-to-date legal advice and strategies.
Maintain strong client relationships, providing clear and timely communication and ensuring client satisfaction.
Requirements:
Active membership in the California State Bar.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in public entity representation, with a focus on Education Law.
Knowledge of California's legal framework, regulations, and policies pertaining to public agencies and education.
Familiarity with local government operations and the unique challenges they face.
