The ideal candidate will possess expertise in various legal areas related to public agency procurement, public works, real property transactions, general agency law, and pre-litigation dispute resolution.

Duties:

• Conduct legal research and analysis on matters related to public agency procurement, public works, real property transactions, and general agency law.
• Assist in contract preparation, revisions, and negotiation ensuring legal compliance and risk management.
• Evaluate and resolve pre-litigation disputes, including government claims procedures.
• Communicate effectively with clients through various forms of telecommunication, conveying professionalism and competence in legal and strategic practical issues.
• Take ownership of assigned matters, develop actionable plans, and execute under professional oversight.
• Engage in ongoing professional training and mentorship to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of relevant experience in legal practice.
• Strong understanding of public agency procurement and contracting, public contract law, bidding processes, and requests for proposals.
• Proficiency in public works, including bid protests, prompt payment, stop payment notices, false claims, suretyship, and prevailing wage law.
• Knowledge of real property transactions, including due diligence, entitlements, and public agency compliance issues.
• Familiarity with general agency law, including the Ralph M. Brown Act, the Public Records Act, and conflict of interest law.
• Excellent research and writing skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues, demonstrating professionalism and competence.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong self-awareness of strengths and limitations, with a desire for ongoing professional development.

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the California State Bar (active and in good standing).
