The law firm is seeking a highly qualified Mid-level Patent Agent with a strong academic background, solid law firm or industry experience, and exceptional writing and communication skills. The ideal candidate should have a degree in electrical engineering or computer science and possess expertise in patent prosecution, specifically in electrical engineering or software-related technologies. Additionally, experience in data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), and machine learning/artificial intelligence with a focus on hardware security is highly encouraged. Admission to the USPTO is a prerequisite for this role.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct patent searches and analyze prior art to assess patentability.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in the fields of electrical engineering, computer science, data science/AI, networking technologies, and machine learning/artificial intelligence.
  • Provide technical and legal advice to clients on patent-related matters.
  • Collaborate with inventors, attorneys, and clients to gather necessary information for patent applications.
  • Respond to office actions and communicate with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • 4+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • Strong academic achievement and a record of success in previous patent-related roles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Expertise in patent prosecution in electrical engineering or software-related technologies.
  • Experience in data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), and machine learning/artificial intelligence with a focus on hardware security.

 

Skills:

  • Proficient in conducting patent searches and analyzing prior art.
  • Exceptional drafting and prosecuting skills for patent applications.
