A law firm located in Ridgeland, MS, is seeking a General Liability Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing, research, and litigation skills, with 2-5 years of civil litigation experience. The General Liability Associate Attorney will work directly with and learn from a highly experienced group of attorneys and staff members. They will be responsible for file review, legal analysis, extensive legal research, drafting documents, representing clients in court, and trial preparation.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct file review and legal analysis of claims and causes of action.
  • Perform extensive legal research and draft substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
  • Maintain an annual billable amount of 1950 hours.
  • Represent clients in court, arbitrations, and depositions regularly.
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests.
  • Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses.
  • Prepare for and attend trials.
  • Handle civil cases from beginning to end, including taking and defending depositions, drafting and arguing substantive motions, and attending hearings and trials.
  • Participate in negotiations and mediations as needed.
  • Respond promptly to email and phone inquiries from clients.
  • Demonstrate excellent client skills and telephone manner.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Admitted to practice in the state of Mississippi; admission in other states is a plus.
  • 2-5 years of civil litigation experience with an emphasis in insurance defense.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid research abilities and written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to self-manage, and work in a team environment.
