Job Overview: A law firm in Denver, CO, is seeking a qualified Patent Agent/Technology Specialist with expertise in mechanical, biomedical, aerospace engineering, or related fields. The ideal candidate should possess a strong academic background, exceptional communication skills, and at least 3 years of patent prosecution experience. While an . or . in a relevant field is preferred, equivalent industry experience will also be considered. The successful candidate who is not a registered patent agent will be expected to pass the USPTO registration exam within one year of being hired.

Duties:

  • Conduct prior art searches and analyze technical literature.
  • Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Communicate with clients, inventors, and examiners regarding patent prosecution matters.
  • Assist with patent portfolio management and strategy development.
  • Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, biomedical, aerospace engineering, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 3 years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Education and Certifications:

  • Registered patent agent (preferred) or willingness to pass the USPTO registration exam within one year of hire.

Skills:
