# Job Description ## Assistant Attorney General, Consumer Protection Section (OAG00076) Organization is seeking a highly-qualified attorney to join its Consumer Protection Section. This individual will analyze, investigate, and prosecute suspected violations of the new Consumer Data Protection Act, the Virginia Consumer Protection Act, and other state and federal consumer privacy statutes. In addition, the individual will have secondary responsibility for analyzing, investigating, and prosecuting violations of other state and federal consumer protection laws as needed. ## Hiring Range: Commensurate with experience ## Pay Band: Agency: Attorney General & Dept of Law ## Location: Office of the Attorney General ## Job Duties: - Analyze and manage complex enforcement cases - Develop oral and written communication skills - Interact effectively with state/federal government officials, a diverse workforce, and the general public - Have excellent writing skills and be prepared to appear in the appropriate state or federal court in actions filed against alleged violators - Work with counterparts in other states and federal agencies - Assist in drafting official opinions - Review proposed legislation ## Minimum Qualifications: - 3 to 5 years of litigation experience in state and federal courts, concentrating on consumer privacy or consumer protection matters - Admitted to the Virginia State Bar ## Preferred Qualifications: - International Association of Privacy Professionals’ Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) certification ## Application Materials: - Résumé - Writing sample - Law school transcript ## Special Instructions: Veterans, AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
