The ideal candidate should have a degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering, with other engineering disciplines considered if coupled with substantial patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products. The candidate must be admitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and should demonstrate high academic achievement, solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience, along with exceptional writing and communication skills.

 

Duties:

  • Collaborating with inventors, engineers, and legal colleagues to assess and understand technical concepts related to medical devices and mechanical engineering.
  • Conducting patent prosecution for innovations in medical devices and mechanical engineering.
  • Drafting and preparing patent applications, responses to office actions, and other legal documents.
  • Conducting legal research to support patent prosecution efforts.
  • Analyzing and interpreting complex technical documents and translating them into patent applications.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering; other engineering disciplines with substantial patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products will be considered.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • High level of academic achievement.

 

Education:

Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
