The Litigation Counsel position at Kia America, Inc. in Irvine, California, US is an exciting opportunity for an experienced legal professional to join the team of a fast-paced and innovative company. As a member of the Kia legal department, the Litigation Counsel will be responsible for providing in-house legal advice and services related to product liability and warranty law, as well as managing and supervising litigation attorneys and paralegals. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide legal advice and services related to product liability and warranty law, including early warning issues, product liability claims and class actions, and subrogation claims
• Supervise litigation attorneys and paralegals in providing in-house legal services on warranty laws and related consumer affairs and customer service issues
• Coordinate with legal department management, regulatory compliance group, outside legal counsel, and Kia America’s parent company to manage product liability and warranty matters
• Manage and provide legal advice and services related to government/regulatory litigation, patent litigation, and other types of litigation, as needed
• Provide reporting to the legal department and executives
• Other projects within the legal department as needed

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
• Admission to the California State Bar
• 10-12 years of top tier law firm and/or in-house experience
• Technical or engineering background and training is helpful
• Product liability, warranty, and/or automotive experience is helpful

Skills and Competencies:

• Ability to create timely and insightful executive reports and analysis
• Quick adaptation to various systems and processes
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong managerial, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)

Pay Range:

$171, - $248,
