A law firm in Charlotte is seeking a Workers' Compensation Attorney to represent injured plaintiff-employees throughout the various stages of their North Carolina Workers’ Compensation cases, including litigation at the Deputy Commissioner, Full Commission, and North Carolina Court of Appeals levels.

 

Duties:

  • Represent injured plaintiff-employees in their NC workers’ compensation cases.
  • Provide legal advice and representation during all phases of the case.
  • Assist injured employees in obtaining benefits under the NC Workers’ Compensation Act.
  • Litigate cases at various levels of the NC Industrial Commission and Court of Appeals.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery, orders, motions, and briefs.
  • Negotiate settlement agreements and terms with opposing parties.
  • Oversee and manage Workers’ Compensation Case Managers and Paralegals.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • License to practice law in North Carolina.
  • 5+ years of legal experience in a Workers’ Compensation law firm and/or insurance defense firm; plaintiff’s side experience preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Extensive knowledge of medical issues in Workers’ Compensation claims and the hearing process.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows/Office and ability to learn and use various software programs.
  • Experience using Litify software is preferred.

 

Education:

Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

License to practice law in North Carolina.

 

Skills:

  • Strong analytical writing and verbal communication abilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows/Office.
  • Extensive knowledge of Workers’ Compensation claims and hearing process.
