Job Summary:

BDO is seeking a Director to join the thriving Privacy & Data Protection (PDP) Practice as a data protection and privacy subject matter expert and engagement leader. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with consulting experience and a background in data protection and privacy to join a global firm and work with both domestic and international clients. The Director will be responsible for maintaining client relationships, developing new opportunities, delivering quality work product, and managing project teams to ensure successful and timely completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver global data protection and privacy strategies to client C-suite/board
Build cross-cultural functionality for clients to operationalize global privacy programs
Develop and deliver privacy operations program plans for global corporate clients
Manage BDO USA team members and collaborate with BDO Member Firms and offshore team members
Provide detailed information to clients on domestic and global privacy laws and regulations
Guide and advise team members on project budget and scheduling
Establish new relationships to drive new opportunities for BDO
Comply with BDO’s Quality Risk Management, Data Protection, and other Frameworks
Manage and maintain relationships with client professionals and introduce other BDO professionals
Manage day-to-day project requirements and on-site/remote team
Ensure timely and thoughtful responses to client inquiries
Build relationships with other BDO professionals and cross-sell into different industries and services
Provide quality services to corporate clients
Update customer relationship management for accurate pipeline reporting
Review client executive reports and provide feedback to team members
Develop proposals, respond to RFP/RFI's, and manage Master Service Agreements and engagement letters
Utilize knowledge of client needs to develop project and resource plans and provide regular updates
Participate in business unit, legal, IT, privacy, and governance interviews and meetings
Proofread and edit executive reports before presenting to clients
Manage client and BDO Partner expectations at all levels
Mentor team members to ensure consistent work product and adherence to BDO standards
Manage multiple large, complex, and long-term engagements and clients
Manage client expectations and support in-person presentations to senior executives
Support Data Protection Officer for clients
Develop and manage project budgets, review invoices, and ensure timely delivery
Act as a leader and maintain a professional, positive attitude with clients and firm personnel
Manage a team of professionals on a project or regional basis

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Train Sr. Managers, Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates on relevant software and processes
Evaluate performance and assist in setting goals and objectives for professional development
Deliver periodic performance feedback and complete evaluations in accordance with Firm guidance
Act as mentor to Sr. Managers, Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required, Master's, Juris Doctorate, or MBA preferred
Ten (10) or more years of consulting experience required
Three (3) or more years of data protection or privacy experience required
Experience working with Fortune 500 clients preferred
Five (5) or more years of experience managing large, complex privacy projects required
One (1) or more privacy certifications required
OneTrust, TrustArc, or other privacy enabled technology solutions preferred

Skills and Abilities:

Executive presence and ability to act as primary contact on engagements
Ability to up-sell after the first engagement
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills
Strong analytical and research skills related to industry trends, market competition, and technology
