Tax Manager, Alternative Investments - Charlotte, NC

BDO USA, LLP is currently seeking a Tax Manager for our Alternative Investments practice in Charlotte, NC. In this role, you will have the opportunity to assist in providing tax compliance and consulting services to our Venture Capital, Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and Real Estate clients.

Key Responsibilities:

- Ensuring compliance with all applicable tax authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens for clients
- Preparing required filings (tax returns) using a systematic review and documentation process
- Collaborating with tax professionals on complex engagements
- Managing engagements, including billing, collections, and budgeting
- Building and maintaining client relationships
- Identifying, developing, and implementing efficient tax strategies
- Mentoring and managing teams of Tax Seniors and Associates

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, required; Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation, preferred
- More than four years of prior tax experience, required
- Experience in the Financial Services industry, specifically supporting Alternative Investment funds (Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Estate, and Hedge Funds), preferred
- Proficiency in partnership taxation, preferred
- CPA, Licensed Attorney, or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent, required; CFP or Masters in Tax, preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools and tax research databases, preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and take appropriate actions without being asked
- Solid understanding of tax compliance processes and software

Competitive Salary Information:

- California Range: $102,300 - $150,000
- Colorado Range: $110,000 - $130,000
- New York City/Valhalla Range: $110,000 - $150,000
- Washington Range: $86,000 - $115,000
