A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking an Innovation and Technology Solutions Attorney to serve as a connection point between the firm's lawyers, clients, and the Technology & Information Services Department. The role involves ensuring that the firm's technology systems, tools, and services effectively meet the needs of practicing attorneys and clients while providing updates and analysis of new technologies and industry trends to firm management and practice group leadership.

Duties:

  • Act as a liaison between the firm's lawyers, clients, and the Technology & Information Services Department to ensure effective technology systems and services utilization.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and innovative offerings, both legal and non-legal, to ensure a state-of-the-art technology platform is available and fully exploited by the firm's lawyers.
  • Collaborate with practice group leadership and support staff to understand technology needs and develop strategies for improving efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage existing and emerging technologies into specific practices and coordinate pilot and proof of concept programs.
  • Make recommendations for strategically deploying technology-related policies, software tools, and other technology-assisted solutions.
  • Foster strong relationships with third-party vendors and industry organizations to stay informed about new products and services.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience as a practicing lawyer in a law firm or in a legal operations role.
  • JD degree or equivalent, with admission to the California State Bar.
  • Experience in a technology role, preferably.
  • Completion of an intensive software development/coding boot camp, preferably.
  • Knowledge and experience with scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript.
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies like HTML/CSS.
  • Familiarity with database languages such as SQL.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Advanced technology or technology-adjacent skills include coding, product management, and process optimization.
  • Ability to innovate processes, products, or services, with examples of past initiatives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with legaltech and general technology usage.
