This position requires a passion for new technology and the ability to work closely with business and technology teams to launch and protect new products. You will be responsible for engaging with scientists, developers, and engineers to identify protectable aspects of their innovations, working with outside counsel on patent portfolio preparation and prosecution, providing direct client counseling on IP issues, and analyzing the company's patent portfolio. You will also assess IP risk from third parties and become a trusted advisor to teams building new web services and products. Key Responsibilities - Engage with scientists, developers, and engineers to identify protectable aspects of their innovations - Work with outside counsel on patent portfolio preparation, filing, and prosecution - Provide direct client counseling on IP issues within the context of product development, business transactions, and machine learning dataset and model acquisition, development, and use - Analyze the company's patent portfolio and assess IP risk from third parties - Become a trusted advisor to teams building new web services and products Qualifications - 5+ years of legal experience - Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent - Experience in transactional and technology licensing or equivalent - Experience in a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work preferred - Curiosity and enthusiasm for technology - Ability to work hard and thrive in a challenging and ambiguous environment - Sound judgment and decision-making skills Compensation The compensation for this position is based on experience and includes equity compensation. The base pay ranges from $123,100/year to $229,000/year, depending on market location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
