A law firm is seeking a Privacy and Data Security Associate Attorney to join their team in Boulder. The candidate will provide expert legal counsel to clients on consumer-facing data privacy and cybersecurity compliance matters, ensuring adherence to a variety of relevant regulations such as the CPA, CCPA, CPRA, COPPA, FCRA, FERPA, GDPR, GLBA, HIPAA, and TCPA. They will be responsible for drafting policies, conducting legal research, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive privacy compliance programs.

 

Duties:

  • Counsel clients on consumer privacy matters, including compliance with various data privacy laws and regulations.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on evolving privacy laws and regulations.
  • Draft and review privacy notices, policies, terms of service, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist in the development of privacy compliance programs for clients.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Utilize technical knowledge to address compliance with comprehensive privacy laws.
  • Handle data breach investigations, notifications, privacy assessments, and data mapping exercises.
  • Draft and negotiate data protection and security terms in commercial transactions.

 

Requirements:

  • 3-8 years of experience in the privacy and cybersecurity space.
  • At least one IAPP certification.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and research skills.
  • Demonstrated experience counseling clients and drafting relevant documentation for privacy and security compliance matters.

 

Skills:

  • Excellent legal writing skills.
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of privacy compliance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in drafting and negotiating legal documents.
  • Ability to stay updated on evolving privacy laws and regulations.
