A law firm is seeking a Patent Agent to join their team in Kansas City. The successful candidate will work closely with inventors on newly created products and assist in identifying patentable inventions. They will be responsible for drafting patent applications, conducting research on current patented technologies, and tracking the patent application process. The ideal candidate should have a background in electrical engineering or biotechnology and possess prior experience in patent law.

 

Job Overview:

  • Work hand-in-hand with inventors on newly created products
  • Assist in the identification of patentable inventions
  • Research current patented technologies to best assist clients in patentable work
  • Draft patent applications with the assistance of the patent team
  • Track the patent application process from initial application to granted patent to ensure the team remains on track
  • Complete ability searches regularly
  • Solve client challenges and respond to client needs
  • Respond to office actions and correspond with the . Patent and Trademark Office
  • Consistently meet billable hour requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering
  • Master’s degree or PhD desired
  • 3+ years of professional experience
  • USPTO Registration required
  • Background in electrical engineering or biotechnology
  • Prior experience in patent law
