A law firm in Charlotte is seeking a dedicated Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney to represent injured plaintiff-employees in their North Carolina workers’ compensation cases. The candidate will provide legal advice, representation, and assistance to plaintiff-employees throughout all stages of their cases, including litigation at various levels. Strong analytical writing, communication, and negotiation skills are essential.

 

Duties:

  • Represent injured plaintiff-employees in their North Carolina workers’ compensation cases.
  • Provide legal advice and representation during all stages of workers’ compensation cases.
  • Assist injured plaintiff-employees in obtaining benefits under the NC Workers’ Compensation Act.
  • Litigate workers’ compensation cases at the Deputy Commissioner, Full Commission, and Court of Appeals levels.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery, orders, motions, and briefs.
  • Negotiate settlement agreements and releases/job resignations on behalf of plaintiff-employee clients.
  • Utilize Microsoft Windows/Office and various software programs, including Litify software.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • License to practice law in North Carolina.
  • 1-3 years’ experience practicing as an attorney in an established law firm.
  • Plaintiff’s workers’ compensation experience preferred.

 

Education:

Juris Doctorate (.) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

  • License to practice law in North Carolina.
  • Experience:
  • 1-3 years’ experience practicing as an attorney in an established law firm.
  • Plaintiff’s workers’ compensation experience preferred.

 

Skills:

  • Exceptional analytical writing and verbal communication abilities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows/Office and ability to learn and use various software programs.
