Job Title: Environmental Counsel

Job Overview: A law firm is seeking an experienced Environmental Counsel to assist clients in navigating complex legal matters about environmental regulations, emergency response, litigation, and policy issues. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in federal environmental regulatory programs, focusing on environmental litigation and regulatory compliance. This position offers the opportunity to work on challenging legal and environmental issues and become a leader in the field.

Duties:

  • Counsel clients on air, water, waste, natural resources, and chemicals regulatory programs.
  • Defend clients against regulatory enforcement actions.
  • Assist clients in addressing policy issues regarding climate change, environmental justice, and emerging contaminants.
  • Litigate high-exposure environmental and toxic tort actions, often parallel with government investigations and enforcement actions.
  • Handle all aspects of emergency response, including environmental incidents, civil and criminal investigations, shareholder litigation, class actions, insurance disputes, and reputational/public relations issues.

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of experience in environmental law.
  • Strong academic background with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Status as an active member of the Georgia Bar or admission in good standing to the Bar in at least one state or the District of Columbia, with the ability to become admitted to the Georgia Bar.
  • Experience with major federal environmental statutes, with specific expertise in the Clean Water Act, is considered a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to work well under deadlines.
  • Creative and critical thinking skills.

Education and Certifications:

  • . from an ABA-accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical, research, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in major federal environmental statutes.
