About the Team:
The AI Product Counseling team at ByteDance provides legal support to the company's AI products and services. As the team expands, we are looking for experienced and talented professionals to join us. This role will play a crucial role in supporting ByteDance's AI product and business teams by providing guidance on legal rights and risk mitigation strategies from a global perspective.

Responsibilities:
- Act as the front-line legal advisor to manage and protect the company's AI-related intellectual property, data privacy, and cybersecurity risks, while collaborating with senior AI product counsel and legal subject matter experts as needed.
- Work closely with the AI product, TnS, Legal, PR, and GR teams to establish and implement responsible AI practices, including mitigating safety, bias, fairness, and transparency risks.
- Assist with drafting and negotiating AI-related contracts, including licensing and data usage agreements.
- Stay up-to-date on global AI regulatory requirements and trends, and communicate them to the product teams to support implementation.
- Design and deliver training sessions to educate employees on legal and ethical considerations when developing, deploying, and using AI technologies.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Qualified to practice law in the US and in good standing.
- 4+ years of experience counseling on intellectual property, privacy, AI, and machine learning. Experience in both private practice and in-house at a technology platform company is a plus.
- Strong ethics and a positive attitude, with a willingness to learn and pick up new knowledge and skills. Comfortable navigating through ambiguous legal issues.
- A confident self-starter with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Must be creative and demonstrate the ability to exercise good judgment and work proactively with the business in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to attend meetings outside of office hours may be required due to the global nature of this team.

Preferred:
- Direct experience engaging with regulatory authorities, industry associations, or standards bodies.
- Experience leveraging operational teams and technologies to drive process implementations and improvements.

Salary Information:
?For Pay Transparency?Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $133,000 - $303,240 annually. The actual compensation may vary depending on a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is only one part of the Total Package provided to recognize and compensate employees for their work. This role may also be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units.
