Marketing Attorney Jobs
A Marketing Attorney is an attorney responsible for managing day-to-day legal affairs for brand strategy, enterprise media, advertising execution, ad agency management, sponsorship marketing, and corporate communications groups. Negotiating, drafting, and ensuring compliance with sponsorship, media, licensing, and other agreements associated with sports, arts and culture, and entertainment programs are the main duties of a marketing attorney. He/she also manages risks associated with marketing events, promotions, and other programs. The attorney is also responsible for identifying and resolving trademark, copyright, name, and other IP issues; procuring IP assets for the marketing organization; and preventing infringements of IP. Ensuring that the advertising and communications material comply with applicable laws is also an important duty. The marketing attorney also handles advertising and marketing law issues for other members of legal department and various business units. Reviewing advertising materials to ensure legal compliance and managing disputes and claims also forms a part of the marketing attorneys duties.
For the position of a Marketing Attorney, the candidate should have a law degree. A candidate with a license to practice in one or more jurisdictions is preferred. Those with relevant experience are considered a big plus. The marketing attorney should also possess a strong knowledge of FTC and FCC regulations, advertising and marketing laws, games of chance law, sports governing body, league rules and regulations, contract law, insurance law, tort law, and intellectual property law. Knowledge of banking and financial services is desired. Besides educational qualifications and necessary work-experience, marketing attorneys are required to have and show strong verbal and written communication skills to succeed in this field.
