The candidate will help identify and solve complex legal and technical issues on specific consulting projects and services. Will develop top caliber intellectual capital on highly complex new legislation, regulations, court cases, customized plan design, compliance, and governance consulting services related to employer health and welfare plan compliance. Act as project leader to drive projects to completion. Work with clients to formulate approaches to operational compliance. Present consulting opportunities to clients and prospective clients along with LOB Consultants. Create tools to leverage common client problems. Review current developments in health and welfare plan legal/technical compliance, undertake required research, prepare complex technical analyses, and develop market-differentiating advice, insights, and solutions. May design and draft template legal documents (i.e. plan documents, employment policies, communications to participants, plan governance and administrative materials). Create revenue-generating articles and technical analyses summarizing and analyzing key developments and issues used to notify and inform internal and external clients about updates in their particular field. Develop and present content in a large forum geared to inform internal and external clients of regulatory and new developments. Drive and review work prepared by others. Act as team representative on LOB initiatives surrounding business planning and development. Act as legal expert to clients and consultants on unique legal and compliance issues and other regulatory developments affecting plans and programs, providing advice on strategy and design. Work with clients to formulate approaches to operational compliance. Independently presents consulting opportunities to clients and prospective clients along with LOB Consultants. Identify marketing opportunities and review marketing and business focused materials for technical accuracy. May provide input into marketing approach. Remain abreast in field of expertise through research and continuing education designed to enhance expertise pertaining to various human resources and legal areas including benefit plans, plan governance (federal and state compliance) and administration processes. Should have a J.D. degree. Must have 8+ years of legal experience in area of ERISA and health and welfare plans. Solid knowledge of employer sponsored health and welfare plan compliance issues is required.

Risk Management Legal Consultant

Duties: Supports the organization's insurance program by providing Risk Management assessment, evaluation, education and legal consultation services to the organization, its affiliates and subsidiaries, and other health care entities that participate in the organization's professional liability and general liability insurance programs. Program participants include acute and sub-acute hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, multi-location physician practices and supporting ancillary services. Reduce overall loss by promoting the best risk management practices within program participants.

Qualifications: Requires Risk Management certification or CPHRM; HRM of ARM within 6 months of hire date. Requires Bachelor's or Master's Degree; JD Degree preferred. Prior experience in a clinical area (i.e.; nursing) is helpful. Requires expertise in risk control evaluation and assessment skills and knowledge of insurance and risk control principles; practices and procedures. Requires ability to organize and process a high volume of work within established standards. Requires strong customer service skills; ability to promote teamwork and build effective relationships. International Civil & Human Rights (ICHRA) Advocate : Legal Consultant

Duties: Promote and protect civil and human rights for minority communities for through a program of advocacy, communication, negotiation, investigation, education, public relations and related administration. Work in the identification, investigation and formulation of a program to deal with civil and human rights of minorities by dealing with formal and informal complaints of discrimination on the basis of race, color, creed, gender, physical/mental disability, age, sexual orientation, caste, family status and marital status in the areas of faith, housing, employment, public accommodation, and education. The work in this class requires the exercise of independent judgment and is performed with considerable independence. Assignments are received orally or in writing from the Director of International Civil and Human Rights Advocacy (ICHRA) and work is performed in consultation with the Director of ICHRA. Work is reviewed by the ICHRA Director through reports, conferences and results achieved. Conduct visits and legal clinics at community centres to collate information and investigate and determine a cause of action based on formal complaints of discrimination or violations of civil and human rights; interviews complainants, respondents and witnesses; research principles and controlling precedents and recommend disposition of complaints; assist in conciliation and public hearing procedures and activities; use the techniques of education, conciliation and persuasion to achieve mutually satisfactory solutions to discrimination concerns; ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations; resolve civil rights complaints at the lowest level and processes complaints which mature into formal charges; conduct jurisdictional reviews and legal analysis and refers non-jurisdictional complaints to the appropriate agencies; prepare formal and informal reports on the extent of discrimination and violations and presents workshops, panels, seminars and lectures to various civic, educational, business and labor groups in civil and human rights issues; respond to inquiries received by ICHRA; work with other agencies and organizations in planning and coordinating programs designed to eliminate racial, cultural and inter-faith tension; attend monthly ICHRA meetings; write and submit community releases and media releases of the projects undertaken by you in a timely manner.

Qualifications: An attorney admitted to the New York Bar, with experience in the investigation of discrimination and civil and human rights complaints and graduation from an accredited college or university, supplemented by advanced course work in law, public administration, social work, sociology, psychology or related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the essential knowledge, skills and abilities. Working knowledge of the origin and cause of discrimination and violations of civil and human rights and the sources of current information in civil and human rights and related fields; good knowledge of the current trends and developments in civil and human rights law; knowledge of administrative procedural law; knowledge of negotiation and facilitation techniques; knowledge of investigative techniques;; ability to plan, organize, present and promote outreach and education programs; ability to write detailed, analytical reports; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to perform conflict resolution in highly charged and emotional situations; ability to keep accurate and confidential records; ability to interview individuals and to evaluate information obtained; ability to collate testimony and to present cases in court; ability to use judgment in interpreting information received in determining appropriate corrective actions; ability to conduct investigative and independent research; ability to analyze, research and document complaints of discrimination and other forms of civil and human rights violations; ability to utilize basic legal terminology; ability to use computers; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community members, employees, city, state and federal officials, representatives of other agencies and the general public; ability to make decisions, recognizing established practices and to use resourcefulness and tact in solving problems; sensitivity to the attitudes, actions and reactions of protected class persons and ability to project this to the growth of community understanding and behavior; demonstrated ability to follow a management philosophy that is input oriented and values problem solving and the development of partnerships; demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team; desire to be part of an organization that values service, people, integrity, responsibility, innovation and team work.'
