Senior Business Restructuring Paralegal Duties: Participates as a team member and assists partners and associates with bankruptcy matters and coordinates work of other bankruptcy paralegals. Attains and brings to bear an advanced knowledge of rules and regulations pertinent to practice area. Conducts fact gathering and information analysis. Drafts complex legal documents.Proficient in use of Best Case Solutions software. Monitors policy on bankruptcy matters. Performs factual research to identify issues and relevant matters and prepares documentation, statistics, charts, graphs, databases and other metrics which clearly detail the findings. Prepares fee applications. Prepares electronic filings and completes forms for filing with bankruptcy courts, especially in New York and Delaware. Understands mechanics of e-filing and e-files with courts and agencies. Provides ongoing assistance drafting documents in conjunction with bankruptcy filings. Interacts with clients and outside entities, such as government agencies, corporations and other law firms to gather information or data. Performs online research using technology tools such as PACER, Lexis and Westlaw and other applications.Creates and utilizes procedures for the organization, coordination and retrieval of documents. Assembles and posts forms and research materials to internal and external client and practice group websites. Fields basic inquiries for clients about bankruptcy issues. Mentors junior associates and paralegals on substantive projects and topics. Creates and delivers substantive trainings for the paralegal group. Complies with department and firm administrative procedures and policies. Assists with department and practice group projects as needed and performs other work-related duties as assigned by the Paralegal Manager. Responsible for billing a minimum of 1600 hours of client-related projects and other credited work. will involve extensive and frequent contact with partners and associates at the firm and requires superior interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience in a similar law firm or in-house position. Must have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the bankruptcy processes, procedures, rules and regulations. Able to maintain strict confidentiality of the firm’s internal and personnel affairs and client information. Understands ethics of position including ethical rules in regards to confidentiality, billing and client representation and advocacy. Collaborates effectively and professionally with clients and all levels of personnel, including attorneys, coworkers and administrators. Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate to attorneys and staff. Able to manage and lead a team. Must be a proactive, self-starter who understands the details within a much larger context.Must pay attention to details and have the ability to follow up and follow through. Must be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities. Able to work under tight deadlines, handle multiple, detailed tasks simultaneously, prioritize appropriately and delegate to resources available. Must be able to anticipate problems and issues and exercise independent judgment to make sound, justifiable decisions and take action in solving problems while knowing when and to whom to escalate issues. Excellent writing and proofreading skills. Owns professional development by seeking out feedback and learning new skills.Takes ownership of deliverables and is accountable. Able to effectively work in a multi-office environment and a culturally and educationally diverse environment.
