Polsinelli PC follows the set of hiring criteria outlined below.
The firm seeks bright, enthusiastic students to join its summer program. Currently the firm interviews prospective students on campuses at many law schools and at Cook County Bar Association Minority Job Fair, the Heartland Diversity and St. Louis Diversity Job Fairs. If the candidate's school is not on the firm's interviewing schedule and neither in the job fairs, the firm advises them to apply directly to the office of their choice with a cover letter, along with a resume, law school transcript and writing sample. If the student is applying for the firm's St. Louis office the application has to be sent to Jennifer Northcutt (jnorthcutt@polsinelli.com). For all other offices the application has to be sent to Kelly Green (kgreen@polsinelli.com).
The firm treats pro bono with seriousness and in earnest. The firm provides pro bono services in a wide range of activities, ensuring that those who need legal services but cannot afford them are not denied it. Every year the firm donates thousands of hours to their pro bono efforts. The firm of its own free will chooses to represent individuals and nonprofit organizations that cannot otherwise afford legal services. It also accepts court-appointed assignments on behalf of poor and needy clients in the areas of child abuse and neglect, family disputes, and some types of criminal law. The firm actively participates and contributes to the legal aid of various organizations and its work has been formally recognized by the Colorado Supreme Court from 2006 to 2008 for its participation in its Pro Bono Legal Services Commitment and Recognition Program. Polsinelli Shughart is also a member and supporter of the Colorado Lawyers Committee which forms task forces to address public interest issues involving the poor and the disadvantaged and handles related litigation. Many of the firm's attorneys donate a portion of their time to pro bono activities for individuals, not-for-profit and charitable organizations. To encourage continued participation this pro bono time is credited towards the attorney's annual billing goals. Polsinelli Shughart take pride in helping the community and is committed to improving the communities in which it works and has long embraced its responsibility to the community at large and encouraged involvement in pro bono and other public service activities.
