Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP follows the set of hiring criteria outlined below.
Willkie Farr & Gallagher tours law school across the country to interview second-year students for summer associate positions. Short-listed candidates face an on-campus interview with a firm's partner. Candidates who clear the first interview are then summoned back to the firm's offices where they interview with a combination of partners and associates. This gives, not only the firm an opportunity to evaluate the candidate but also the candidate to evaluate the firm. Interested candidates should post their cover letters, resumes and transcripts to an office of their choice
The firm takes great pride in its pro bono program. The recognition that it has received for its work is something that the firm takes pride in. It received the inMotion's 2011 Law Firm of the Year Award and their Commitment to Justice Award for Outstanding Legal Team, Legal Aid Society's 2010 and 2011 Pro Bono Publico Award, the MFY Legal Services Scales of Justice Award and was one of two 2012 MFY honorees recognized for longstanding support, and an "exceptional philanthropist" award for the firm's Greater Washington Community Foundation. The firm encourages its attorney to participate in pro bono work and meet their pro bono responsibilities by providing essential legal services for the needy and disadvantaged. All pro bono work undertaken by associates is considered the responsibility of the firm, and a partner is assigned to each matter to render advice, assistance and supervision. Lawyers working on pro bono matters have available to them the full resources of the firm. For billing purposes, time committed to pro bono matters is treated no differently than time committed to any other client. The firm also acts as a general counsel to many organizations that provide services for the poor, including Women in Need and City Harvest. The firm has a long history of commitment and contribution to public interest work. Many of their lawyers have spent large portions of their careers in various areas of public service, including one as Governor of New York, one as United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, one as President of the Bar Association of the City of New York, and numerous others in various departments of government.
Thank you.
