Advice to law firm management: They have a work hard culture and zero attitude.

Pros: Super nice great place to work!

Cons: No gym

Partners to Avoid and Why: This is a professional firm that is perfectly sized. This leads to a workload that is very easy going so you never feel overwhelmed. The staff here goes out of their way to make its employees feel part of the team and the firm's size reflects that. It's large enough that the employees are hard at work, but small enough that everyone has an opportunity to grow.

Favorite Things About this Firm: They have a work hard culture and zero attitude. Unfortunately, like most firms, young employees need to invest some time in order to advance. This is not so much a specific issue with the firm, but something that is present in most places of employment. Other than this, the firm does need to upgrade its technologies as some are outdated.

Advice to law firm management: Watch for practice area bias.

Pros: The firm is truly committed to your growth and development. Hours requirement is 1850 -- totally doable. Managing partners coordinate workflow. Partners have plenty of work, even during pandemic. Lots of interesting work and good people to work with. Clients are great for the most part.

Cons: There is a geographic bias in favor of the largest office in LA. Some practice areas are more highly valued than others.

Partners to Avoid and Why: None. They all have their strengths. Some are more patient, but all know their stuff and are willing to teach someone who is willing to learn.

Favorite Things About this Firm: Pay is comparable. The partners care about you as a person.

Current or former employee?: Current Employee

Job type: Full time

Overview

Six attorneys, who had extensive experience in, and a passion for, representing public sector management in the areas of employment law and labor relations, got together and started our firm in 1980. Over the years we grew that practice to become California's preeminent public management employment law firm with over 80 attorneys in five offices. Some years ago we added an education law specialty to our practice to meet the needs of our school and college clients. We consider ourselves fortunate indeed to have our interest matched by having built our practice in one of the most dynamically evolving areas of the law; one that challenges our attorneys to constantly stay on top of the ever-expanding legislative, administrative and court decisional law. Our passion for servicing the needs of our clients in our specialized area of practice remains as true today as it did in 1980.

I was incredibly happy with the site. I thought it was very easy to use; had significantly more postings than any other site (or combination of sites); and provided a lot of useful information. (the number, and caliber, of job postings). Exactly what I was looking for – I have 5 years’ experience and was looking for a lateral move or an in-house position, and that’s exactly what I found!
