The Dangers of Getting Jobs Through Friends and Family

This firm needs to be completely revamped. Management needs to get on the ball and fire some of the attorney's there right now that have an attitude and should hire new attorney's that have respect for everyone.
Well I did have plenty of hours while I was here and enjoyed talking to and working with the secretary's and front desk staff since they were the only friendly people there.
I started out here as an intern and some of the attorneys were downright disrespectful to me. I felt like I did not belong here and seldom received any help.
Don't promote people base on how well they politic in the office. Promote people on their skill and knowledge of the law and the way they handle the clients rather than management.
The lawyers are very family oriented as is the culture for a firm of this size and it extends from the top to the bottom. They are very good about bringing young lawyers and associates up to speed and tutoring them as they progress.
Management seems to have a few people that they favor over others, even though they do a good job of mentoring people. There can still be some office politics that sneak into decisions.
Establish better communication channels between junior and senior staff in order to promote the flow of information.
The law firm offers learning opportunities to its employees through weekly seminars. There are also annual scholarships for junior staff and interns for further studies. This ensures that all employees are well versed with modern practices and that they are up to date with the changes in the law practice scene. It's also relatively easy (as a result of that) for the employees to move up the rungs of the ladder of the firm if one is dedicated to excellence.
Communication between junior and senior/managing staff is sometimes difficult. The structure is long and winding and sometimes information may never reach the recipient as originally intended. Some junior staff may feel underappreciated and undervalued which may lead to loss of valuable talent within the firm.
Thank you.
